The youth sports landscape in Indonesia witnessed another remarkable milestone in precision athletics as GTS Archery Tangerang delivered an extraordinary performance at the highly anticipated Mawas Archery Championship 8. Held across two action-packed days from September 19 to September 20, 2026, at the prestigious Lapangan Tembak Yonkav 7 located in Cijantung, East Jakarta, the tournament served as a major battleground for rising archery talents from across the region. Amidst fierce competition involving hundreds of participants representing various clubs, training centers, and regional associations, the contingent from GTS Archery Tangerang emerged as a dominant force. Displaying exceptional discipline, technical mastery, and mental fortitude under pressure, the Tangerang-based club successfully hauled a total of 13 medals, cementing its status as one of the premier youth archery development hubs in the country.
The impressive medal count of 13 podium finishes—comprising five gold medals, five silver medals, and three bronze medals—propelled GTS Archery Tangerang to an admirable third-place finish in the overall team standings. This achievement reflects not only the individual brilliance of the club’s athletes but also the efficacy of its structured coaching methodologies and systematic talent pipeline. While the team trophy and overall medal tally were major sources of pride for the contingent, the individual exploits of its younger demographic captivated spectators and tournament officials alike, underscoring the promising future of Indonesian archery on the domestic and potentially international stages.
Main Facts and the Overall Medal Haul
The Mawas Archery Championship 8 featured diverse categories catering to various age brackets, bow divisions, and skill levels, ranging from elementary school divisions to advanced open categories. Within this competitive ecosystem, GTS Archery Tangerang deployed a carefully curated delegation of young archers who had undergone rigorous preparation leading up to the September event. The tournament format tested every facet of an archer’s capability, evaluating precision over distance, consistency through fluctuating weather conditions, and psychological resilience during high-stakes elimination rounds.
Securing five gold medals required athletes to execute near-flawless shooting sequences across qualification rounds, individual eliminations, and team events. The five silver medals and three bronze medals further highlighted the depth of the GTS Archery squad, ensuring that multiple club members regularly featured in medal ceremonies across different age categories. Finishing third in the general standings against well-funded and historically established clubs demonstrates that GTS Archery Tangerang has established a competitive framework capable of producing elite-level results consistently. The success at the Lapangan Tembak Yonkav 7 facility adds another chapter to the club’s growing legacy within the Greater Jakarta archery community, reinforcing the importance of early technical instruction and continuous tournament exposure for developing athletes.
Chronology and Tournament Timeline
The journey toward the podium at the Mawas Archery Championship 8 unfolded through a structured timeline that tested the physical and mental stamina of the competing athletes. Proceedings commenced on the morning of September 19, 2026, with the official equipment inspections, practice sessions, and the crucial qualification rounds. During this initial phase, archers fired a predetermined volume of arrows at designated targets to establish seeding for the subsequent elimination brackets.
Day one immediately highlighted the strength of the GTS Archery Tangerang delegation. In the Barebow Elementary School Grades 4 through 6 Girls division, Kaysha Amira Aljabar set the tone for her remarkable weekend by dominating the qualification round, securing the pole position with a series of high-scoring ends. Demonstrating the depth of the club’s training program, fellow GTS Archery athletes Askhana Shaki Rifandi and Zahira Febinara Wibowo secured the second and third qualification spots respectively, creating an early sweep of the top tier leaderboards by Tangerang representatives.
As the tournament transitioned into September 20, the intensity escalated with the commencement of the elimination rounds and team matches. The individual bracket for the Barebow SD 4–6 Putri category evolved into a showcase of internal club dominance and dramatic sporting theater. The pinnacle of this competition manifested in the final match, which pitted Kaysha Amira Aljabar against her clubmate, Zahira Febinara Wibowo. The gold medal match lived up to its billing, presenting a tense, neck-and-neck battle where neither archer yielded an advantage. With regulation ends tied, the victor had to be decided through a dramatic shoot-out—a single-arrow sudden-death format that places maximum psychological pressure on the competitors. Kaysha held her nerve to deliver a superior shot, securing the gold medal while Zahira earned a hard-fought silver.
Following the individual finals, the focus shifted to team and mixed-team disciplines later in the afternoon of September 20. The trio comprising Kaysha, Askhana, and Zahira teamed up for the Girls Team Barebow event, where their synchronized shooting rhythm and tactical composure carried them past opposing club trios to claim the highest step of the podium. Concurrently, Kaysha paired with Albattar Faiq Abqori in the Mixed Team category, adding yet another gold medal to her unprecedented haul. By the conclusion of the medal ceremonies on Sunday evening, the collective efforts of the entire GTS Archery roster culminated in their third-place overall standing.
Standout Performances: The Rise of Kaysha Amira Aljabar
While the team’s collective success was undeniable, the individual performance of Kaysha Amira Aljabar emerged as the defining storyline of the championship. Competing in the Barebow division while still attending the sixth grade of elementary school, Kaysha demonstrated a level of poise and technical execution that defied her young age. Her remarkable campaign yielded a clean sweep of four gold medals across the individual qualification, individual elimination, mixed team, and team events.
Kaysha’s quadruple-gold achievement was complemented by her recognition as the Best Archery Women of the tournament—a prestigious accolade awarded to the most outstanding female competitor across the participating divisions. Sports analysts and coaches observing the event noted that Kaysha’s shooting form exhibits exceptional stability, consistent anchor points, and a controlled release, attributes that are typically refined at older developmental stages. Her ability to navigate high-pressure scenarios, particularly during the shoot-out against her teammate Zahira, illustrated a competitive maturity essential for long-term athletic success.
The supporting performances within her cohort were equally vital. Askhana Shaki Rifandi and Zahira Febinara Wibowo not only secured high individual rankings during the qualification phase but also provided the foundational synergy required to dominate the team disciplines. The camaraderie and mutual respect displayed by these young athletes during intense intra-club finals underscored a healthy sporting culture fostered within GTS Archery Tangerang.
Broader Impact and Implications for Youth Archery
The success of GTS Archery Tangerang at the Mawas Archery Championship 8 carries broader implications for the development of archery as a youth sport in Indonesia. Archery requires a unique combination of physical strength, postural control, visual acuity, and intense mental concentration. Introducing children to these disciplines at the elementary school level—as demonstrated by sixth-graders Kaysha, Askhana, and Zahira—builds a robust foundation for future national and international representation.
The proliferation of regional tournaments such as the Mawas Archery Championship series plays a critical role in bridging the gap between grassroots training and elite competition. By providing structured platforms where young athletes can experience tournament pressure, tactical decision-making, and sportsmanship, these events contribute directly to the national talent pool. The strong showing by a club contingent from Tangerang indicates that talent development is decentralizing, with regional clubs establishing high-performance environments that rival traditional urban centers.
Furthermore, the prominence of the Barebow division in youth competitions highlights a growing trend toward accessible equipment classes that emphasize fundamental archery mechanics over sophisticated mechanical aids. This accessibility encourages broader participation among school-aged children, allowing clubs to scout and nurture raw talent effectively.
Official Responses and Organizational Perspective
Although specific individual quotes from coaching staff and club leadership following the event remain part of the internal team celebration, the structural results speak volumes regarding the philosophy of GTS Archery Tangerang. Representatives from the club have consistently emphasized a long-term developmental approach that prioritizes technical precision, character building, and psychological preparedness over immediate medal counts. However, achieving a top-three finish in a major championship while collecting 13 medals validates the effectiveness of their training regime.
The management of Lapangan Tembak Yonkav 7 and the organizing committee of the Mawas Archery Championship also expressed satisfaction with the smooth execution of the two-day event. Hosting a tournament of this magnitude requires rigorous logistical planning, stringent safety protocols, and precise timing, all of cui were successfully managed to ensure a fair and competitive environment for all participants. The event concluded with the official awarding of trophies and medals, marking another successful chapter in the ongoing calendar of Indonesian youth archery sports development.
